About the project
Filmed in Vieques, Puerto Rico, Noche de San Juan takes the tradition of entering the sea backward as a point of departure. The gesture becomes an embodied wish for purification and collective healing.
An altered chromatic landscape draws the figure into the sea and sky. The island is both a physical setting and a space onto which the body projects memory, vulnerability, and the possibility of beginning again.
